A report from Fred Olsen Cruise Lines Braemar. Chris's recent holiday to the Norwegian Fjords - as you will see she had a great time.
Report...
Having just got back from a 7 night cruise on the Braemar, visiting the Norwegian Fjords, I have to admit the ship was smaller than previous cruise ships I have been on. However, what she lacked in size she most deffinately made up for in service and friendliness.
Braemar was the friendlist ship I have been on, the crew went the extra mile every time and they smiled 24/7.
Nothing was too much trouble and at meal times there was plenty of choice. In fact the Breamar had a curry lunch which was fantastic with a wide variety of curries plus all the usual accompaniements. The Neptune buffet was equally good.
The passenger profile was elderly but I did expect that on Fred Olsen cruise to the Fjords..!!
There were three excellent shows, extremely professional and for a change the comedian was very funny. In fact the crew show was also hilarious.
I did think the excursions were a little expensive, but people I spoke to thought they were good value for money and ran like clockwork.
I picked the Fjords for the scenery and was not dissappointed. It was awesome and cruising is deffinately a great way to see Norway and the Fjords. The glaciers are spectacular as are the many waterfalls.
On board, there was plenty to do with things going on in most of the lounges, including live music, dancing with dance hosts and the usual quiz.
This was a cruise out of Newcastle and on this note, I have to say the parking facility was excellent. It was easy to follow the signs and on arrival our luggage was taken from the boot of the car, so no heaving cases around. When we disembarked from the Braemar - our car was waiting for us in the car park with help at hand if we needed it.
This was our first experience of cruising from the UK and our first Fred Olsen cruises - I can honestly say - I recomend both. Well done Fred Olsen you have a little gem in the Braemar.
