P&O Cruises changes the dress code onboard its fleet for 2009 cruise holidays.
Changes to dress code descriptions.
As a result of feedback from Ventura and Oceana ships, Semi-Formal dress code will be removed from ships, but the number of formal nights on board these ships will be kept the same. 2 nights a week or 4 formal in a 2 week cruise. In addition all descriptions have been amended to improve clarity.
The brochures and website will all be updated to reflect these changes so that passengers are fully aware of the new descriptions before they board.
Phil's comment: I have typed out the new wording for you concerning the passenger dress code which will be applicable to Cruises from Euromed onward.
When on board, your daily newspaper 'Horizon' details the dress codes for each evening which are encouraged throughout the ship from 6pm and to ensure that we can maintain the unique atmosphere we kindly ask that you adhere to these:
Formal: This is the opportunity for ladies to wear formal evening wear such as an evening dress, smart trouser suit or a cocktail dress. For men, a dinner jacket or tuxedos are the norm, otherwise a dark lounge/ business suit and tie or formal national dress is fine.
Formal - This applies to all ships.
Semi-formal: Ladies can wear anything from tailored trousers to smart separates or an elegant dress, while men are required to wear a smart shirt and trousers with a jacket such as a blazer or sports jacket. A suit and tie may be worn but is not compulsory.
Semi-formal - Applies to Arcadia, Artemis, Aurora and Oriana only
Smart Casual: Stylish resort or leisurewear is ideal, for example casual separates or dresses for ladies and open-neck polo shirts and casual trousers (not shorts) for men. A jacket and smart trousers may be worn but are not compulsory. Smart dark denim may be worn however we request that the following items are not worn: sportswear, e.g. trainers, football shirts and tracksuits.
Smart Casual - Applies to all ships
Please do not wear your swimsuit in the lounges, interior bars, restaurants or Reception area. A shirt and suitable footwear is required while indoors and when using the buffets.
The dress code is applicable to all passengers of 18 years and over.
Under 18s
We request that on Formal and Semi-formal evenings, under 18s wear Smart-casual as a minimum. In addition, on these evenings denim is NOT permitted.
OK - so now everyone is clear on the new dress codes from P&O Cruises. My only hope is that the no shorts, trainers policy is policed properly by the maitre'd in the restaurants.
