NCL Norwegian Epic - latest news update for ports of call

News just in - Norwegian Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Norwegian Epic, will call in Costa Maya, Mexico when the she debuts in the Caribbean in summer 2010.

At 4,200 tons the Norwegian Epic will be NCL's largest ship. She is currently under construction at STX Europa's shipyard in France.

The Epic will sail year-round from Miami with alternating weekly calls to Costa Maya, on Mexico’s southern Yucatan Peninsula. The calls will be a boost for the cruise port, which was destroyed by Hurricane Dean in 2007 and reopened last summer.

"The the new pier was built to accommodate large cruise ships like the Epic" said Teofilo Hamui, president of Costa Maya.
