Why we must becareful of comparing the value of cruise holidays on price alone...

As those of you who read my cruie reviews or blogs regularly, you will know I always offer a balanced opinion about this wonderful industry.
Today I read a report offering a fantastic deal on a luxury cruise ship, "what's wrong with that you may say?"
Well, the report compared the price against that of a 3 star ship on a different itinerary and asked the question - which would you choose? I believe that we have to be very careful how such excellent deals are marketed. What may on the surface appear to be a much better offer, may well turn out to be the holiday of horrors when someone finds themselves on a cruise ship that is most deffinately out of their comfort zone and surrounded by people who are not like minded. That is just one scenario, another may well be the extra onboard costs associated with a luxury cruise ship.
I am not a big fan of comparing products by price alone, 9 times out of 10 this results in a problem. Comparing luxury products against 3 star cruise holidays when the price gap is in the £100's or £1000's is fine and when onboard you expect to see the value of such a price difference. The luxury cruise market very often absolutely does deliver, yet more often than not, the 3 star cruise will over deliver in so many areas. But never forget they are two completely different products.
If you are reading this blog, I want to make sure that you buy a cruise that meets with any specific requests or criteria you present us with.
First and foremost, get yourself on the right cruise ship and you should have every reason to expect a fantastic holiday experience.
