A cruise review and interesting observations.

I received an email which immediately caught my attention. One, it didnt actually go straight to spam (phew) and secondly because there are some valid points raised.

Dear Phil

I do look at your blog comments and am a loyal customer of savensail. These however are the first comments that I have submitted and are of a general nature'

VENTURA

Have been on a Baltic cruise and a Caribbean cruise and in the main I agree with what you say.But there are 3 points I would to expand on

Children-On the Caribbean cruise I took my family including an 11 month old boy.The facilities for children are superb-everything is catered for and the staff were exceptional. When we had booked we were not aware that a grandson was on the way and were a little concerned how we would manage in the Caribbean but P & O came out with full marks and made the holiday.

Entertainment-Disappointingly poor. Most of the shows in the Caribbean were same as the Baltic cruise and there was no improvement. They must do better.

Sailaways-Enjoyed the first couple but after that they got a bit tedious and repetitive.

FLIGHTS

These have always been a bit of an issue with P & O.My first was with Thomas cook and I said I would not travel with them again.Things did improve but this year we were on a Thomson flight but with a First Choice aircraft. No problem with actual plane but the staff could have been more efficient and more friendly. However the big problem was with the drinks service. We were only allowed 1 free drink on each of the 2 services and were not even able to buy anymore.Coffee or tea counted as one drink!!!!Wine served with the meal was poor and only half a small glass. The stewardess said it was "P & O policy".It needs to be sorted and at least announced before the flight takes off so we know where we stand.1 or 2 free drinks is ok and probably the right way forward but there also needs to the facility to purchase additional driksks as required.

AZURA

Very disappointing itineraries for its maiden season.Out of 26 cruises - 17 comprise only 3 itineraries-7 times to the same Caribbean islands;7 times to the same Med destinations and 3 times to the same Canary destinations.Add to this 2 transatlantic crossings there is not much left and even these are the old faithfuls.

MEDITERRANEAN

We would like to cruise the Greek Isles and Eastern Med but wish to fly there and back-not sail from Southampton. We also wish to stay loyal to P & O.Ocean Village would have fitted the bill sailing from Crete but as I have said we prefer P & O.Is it possible that they will fill the void in 2010-I doubt it.

Thats all. Thanks for all the hard work undertaken by your excellent staff
