Azamara Names Larry Pimentel as new boss of the luxury cruise line.

I am personally really please to hear that Larry Pimentel is taking charge at Azamara Cruises.

He will take the helm at Azamara in the newly created position of president and CEO. There have been several rumors as to where Larry would appear in the industry.

Azamara's parent company, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., said Pimentel would be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the Azamara brand to ensure its "continuous growth and success."

Larry resigned in Janusary as CEO of SeaDream Yacht Club, the company he co-launched in 2002, due to what he termed "fundamental disagreements" with the direction the company was taking.

Pimentel will report directly to Richard Fain, RCCL's chairman and CEO. Sources say Fain heavily recruited Pimentel, a 30-year veteran of the cruise industry. Before SeaDream, Pimentel had been president and CEO of Cunard Line and Seabourn Cruises.

To date, Azamara has been headed up by Celebrity Cruises CEO Dan Hanrahan. But Richard fain was quoted as saying "It is time for Azamara to stand on its own after a successful two years of operation."
