Price of drinks on P&O Cruises ships. We ask - Are you getting value for money?

This is a question both myself and my team get asked almost every single day. How much do drinks cost onboard?
This is a double edge sword, because there is always the argument that the cost of cruising has not increased over the last 30 years and there has never been a better time to grab a bargain in the current climate - therefore cruise lines may deem slightly higher bar prices an acceptable trade off against the cost of a cruise holiday.
So why the big difference?
When some cruise lines still offer prices for drinks that are comparable if not cheaper than pub prices in the UK.
One example of this is P&O Cruises who make their bar prices accessible and are quite open about the costs. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked out their costs for examples of a pint of bitter £2.35 and a lager at £2.60. (Purely from a selfish point of view!)
The prices of bottles such as Smirnof or Becks etc are approx £2.50 which I think is quite reasonable.
I will be interested to hear some feedback. How much have you paid for a bottle or pint of beer, a glass of wine or a spirit mixer onboard?
Is this an important factor when considering a cruise holiday?
Would you pay more for a cruise if the bar prices were reasonable?
Does this not influence your decision at all?
Let us know, do you think P&O Cruises have got it right on the drinks front.
