Norwegian Epic passes first sea trials

The Norwegian Epic successfully completed its sea trials on Feb. 14, four months prior to the 4,200-passenger ship’s scheduled delivery.

The Epic, Norwegian Cruise Line’s largest ship to date, spent four days in the Atlantic Ocean while 300 technicians and engineers from STX France, the ship’s builder, and 30 NCL representatives checked the ship’s performance by running trials of the vessel's speed, maneuverability, hydrodynamics and propulsion.

The 153,000-ton Epic will undergo a second round of sea trials in mid-April. The ship is scheduled for delivery on June 15 and is slated to begin service from Miami on July 10.
