Re: India Cruises next for Carnival Corp? 2011 or 2012..??
by Robert
1.800 cabins !!! It’s going to be horrendous, these ugly supermarket ships with something for everybody will spoiling the industry, anything the Yanks touch gets bastardised and spoilt, but Arison knows how to make money for his shareholders, as the new ships are designed for maximum profit. His supermarket ideology of pile it high and sell it at an attractive market price will probably work and will attract a brand new type of cruising industry. Unfortunately traditional cruisers don't all want climbing walls and ice rinks and another 3.000 fellow passengers, the Mega Ship holiday camps will spoil the industry of cruising, as we know it. The problems that the Mega Ships will create have not been realised yet, but just imagine 3 or 4 of these monstrosities turning up at a port like Santarini and dumping upwards of 10.000 passengers in the small town, or St –Tropez, the roads will be grid locked with tour buses coming from across the region, and everywhere you visit on your tour there will be long queues of tourists, it’s going to happen!! I suppose it will not matter in ports like Mumbi where any big ship will be welcome, and the thousands of passengers all willing to leave a few ££ or $$ behind. But that will not affect Micky Anison, as he will fly in his private jet to a nice beach where his ships are not allowed to visit.
